Nippers (& Sippers) Information Day

ALL members welcome. A very social afternoon. Still, you can find out all about Nippers for 24/25
We can only tell you so much, but what do YOU really want to know ?

There will be various Committee and Club members on hand to answer any enquiries about:

  🌊 How Nippers mornings are run
  🌊 Training and competitions
  🌊 Education training for water safety roles (Surf Rescue Certificate and Bronze Medallion)
  🌊 Soft gear (store will be open)
  🌊 Age Manager information
  🌊 Sponsorship opportunities
  🌊 Committee roles

Attendance is not compulsory, but highly recommended

Swim Proficiency

It is mandatory that we assess every child's ability and confidence in the water prior to starting Nippers.
Unless you have arranged the proficiency swim elsewhere, then please attend one of the following sessions ...

#4 - To Be Announced	This will be made very close to the start of Nippers, but please do NOT wait for this one. Get it done early !!

Bookings are essential. Please complete your Membership registration BEFORE attending a pool swim.

Entry to the pool will be made free for the swim assessment only. Please keep your children from jumping in the pool in the public lanes.

What does my child have to do ? Read the SWIM FORM All the details are there.

What if I don't get it done ? It's mandatory, it needs to be completed, no ifs or buts. If it has not been done, you will be asked to go down to the Shellharbour Ocean Pool on the first day of Nippers. We can tell you now, the younger kids really do not cope well with the cold water at this time of year. Do yourself and your child(ren) a favour, and get along to one of the above sessions. Don't make their first experience of Nippers a cold pool.

What if my child fails the assessment ? You cannot fail. Your child is marked as a non-satisfactory swimmer, and Age Managers will know who requires closer water safety supervisions. Please note that Nippers is not a place to Learn to Swim. If your child is not a capable swimmer, take them to swimming lessons first.

What about the Ocean Swim proficiency ? This is conducted at Nippers during the first few weeks of Nippers. There is no need to get this done in the pre-season unless you are a competing in Sydney Water (see Sydney Water section below)

Sun, 13th Oct, 8am	First day Nippers. If you can make it to one of the sessions above, please do so. First day is always VERY busy. If have no other choice, come early to avoid the rush !!

Sydney Water Competition

What is Sydney Water ? Sydney Water Competition Dates
For U8+ only. Are you keen to compete at Sydney Water ? A few things you need to do ...

1. Make yourself know to our competition Team Manager - Sarah Roger. More information to come from Sarah.

2. Get both the Pool and Ocean Swim Proficiencies completed. All Sydney Water competitors will be able to have their proficiencies completed at any pre-season Board Training session. (Conditions and Water Safety permitting)
